Nagado and Hira Daiko

The heart of a Taiko ensemble, our Nagado Daiko have a deep thunderous tone with full resonance while our Hira Daiko have a low booming attack with a shorter sustain. 

We use high quality Ash hardwood selected for its weight density and grain pattern. This wood is laminated and turned on a lathe to rough shape before being finished inside and out with gouges and hand planes.

Heavy weight steer hide is used for the heads which are tacked in the traditional manner.

We have the capacity in our shop to produce Nagado Daiko up to 26 inches in diameter and Hira Daiko up to 60 inches in diameter.
