Tsukeshime Daiko
In addition to our traditional Shime Daiko sizes we offer a Super Mini Shime!
With a fast and cutting sound, our Shime Daiko are rugged and heavy drums capable of being tuned to a very high pitch. Specifically designed for kumi daiko playing their sound easily carries over the pounding of lower pitched taiko.
Our Shime Daiko bodies are made of Ash hardwood, milled to staves and laminated, then turned to shape inside and out on a lathe.
The heads are thick heavy weight steer hide hand stitched over steel rings (thickness of the hide used increases with the size of the Shime Daiko).
Shime Daiko are available with either natural cotton rope or a bolt system*.
